Chaddy Chaddy Chaddy...

We found out on the 9th that my dear sweet Chaddy still has a tumor growing in his spine. He has been through two major back surgeries, chemo therapy and heavy radiation. How on earth anything can live through that and still grow is beyond me...CANCER SUCKS.

The doctor said we have 3 options...

1. Surgery
2. More radiation
3. Chemo

The surgeon said the tumor is to small for the risky surgery he would have to do. He would have to go through the chest and move ribs, lungs, heart, etc. That is not an option right now. The radiation doctor said the tumor is to close to the spinal cord and there is no way she could get it all so it would just grow back in 6 months and then radiation would not be an option again. She told him to go home and enjoy his quality of life while he could. Chemo didn't do anything to stop it the first time and doesn't have a good track record with sarcoma tumors so that is the last option.

What do you do with that news...If you are Chad you find another solution. Chad has a fantastic uncle that lives in New York. He has a friend who specializes in spine tumors and has been in contact with Chad for the last 2 years. We didn't know why this contact was made until now. The doctor has agreed to take on Chad and his tumor. As of right now the plan is for all Chads medical records to get sent to NY and a PET scan be done. Chad is planning to go to NY on Feb. 14th to meet the doctors, get tests done and final prep. A few weeks after that a final plan will be put into place for radiation treatment. Chad will then go to NY for 3 to 4 weeks. They are going to use large amounts of Radiation over a short amount of time. There are long term risks involved but that is the nature of the beast.

Just when things are looking up we often get kicked to our knees. And then... Angels surround us and blessings are poured out upon us. Chad and I have seen more love, concern, and charity from people than we ever have before. Chad's employment is behind him 100%, sky miles are being donated as well as money to cover the large cost of fighting cancer. I don't know why things like this happen but I do know that we are strengthened to handle them. Heavenly Father loves us and is aware of our every need. This to shall pass.

Many have asked how they can help. I hate asking for help...I am too independent for that. Help is one thing I have slowly learned to except. So here is how you can help.

1. Prayers
2. Money donations ( medical bills, airfare to NY, chad out of work for a time)
Zions bank donation acct: Chad Buckner
Paypal: cbbuckner@gmail.com
3. Prayers...We believe in miracles and you can never have to many people praying in your behalf.

Thank you so much for all the love and support. You will never know how much a phone call, email, someone to talk to, card or just a hug means. It keeps us smiling. Thank you!

I feel compelled to do so much more than I am capable of doing. That video was powerful and I loved it. I am so sorry about the cancer coming back. Thank goodness you have made a connection with someone who has the resources to hopefully get rid of this crap for good! Love you, Ames.

Oh Amy! I had no idea. We will pray for your family every day. Thank you for your posts - all of them. Your and your family are WONDERFUL! I loved the video - This too shall pass. You are amazing! I love watching your boys in Primary. Ethan came up and gave me a big hug today after Primary. He melts my heart! I feel privileged that he also showed my his impression of Monkey Lips. Both your boys bring a smile to my face!
